BN and their antics
October 10, 2010 § 2 Comments
We were driving past the Parliament building several months ago and a friend of mine pointed at the Parliament and said,”look that’s where you get the best stand-up comedies!”
I don’t know if he was referring to the funny bones of our leaders or he is simply mocking our Parliament but I got a feeling there’s some truth in what he said.
1Malaysia, can you see what I see?
For a start, Barisan National and their almighty army have always made such good speeches in the media. Sometimes I wish I took down their Public Relations companies number.
Still remember, Najib anti-extremist fight? Then remember over the weekend we have PERKASA burning pictures and singing their latest single, ‘Namawee Babi!’ and the police were kind enough to let PERKASA concert last up to 40 minutes.
How very contradicting to Najib’s advice of non-extremism? Or did PERKASA fail to qualify under the extremist group? If so, why did the anti-ISA protesters who only held candles and mind you, they didn’t burn pictures, found themselves spending the night in the police station?
Like I mentioned earlier, things can be really interesting in my country.
Next, do you remember 1Malaysia? Remember Najib boldly proclaiming 1Malaysia concept a few years ago. He even bolded the word ‘fair to all races’ in his 1Malaysia booklet. What follows after that, have been much publicized already by the media. We have ‘allah’s name’ issue, Chinese in a mosque, ISA chasing anyone who wants to talk about the Malay rights, alleged racist civil servants ‘advising’ students’, a God-like NGO who seem to scare Najib enough to do whatever they ask.
How does all these fit into 1Malaysia, you don’t need me to draw the conclusions for you, do you?
HINDRAF- gangstas or freedom fighters?
Also I read in the news today, HINDRAF brought up the issue that the Article 153 was only half-interpreted by our leaders. For fifty years can you imagine? No one bother to say, “Hey, Najib, there’s still one part you forgotten to read.”
According to HINDRAF the Article 153 also guaranties the rights of the non-Malays as much as it guaranties the rights of the Malays and Bumiputras.
The HINDRAF guys really mean business this time. They even took the trouble to read out the federal constitution to Najib-
“It shall be the responsibility of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to safeguard the legitimate interests of the other communities (especially the poor Indians) in accordance with the provision of this Article”
Coincidental or not, in a recent article on Bernama News, Senior Federal Counsel in the Attorney General’s Chambers Mahamad Naser Disa emphasized that we need to understand the federal constitution properly to ensure the success of Najib’s 1Malaysia.
You know what I think? I think the HINDRAF guys took you seriously Naser?
The HINDRAFF people demanded that UMNO has to abide by the federal constitution now and “take the Indian poor out of their 53 years of UMNO socially engineered misery and poverty.”
You know, in my country, even a candlelight vigil by gunless people deserves police attention, can you imagine what sort of attention the HINDRAF guys drew?
First, we have UMNO owned Utusan Malaysia calling him rude.
Second, Johor Bahru UMNO Youth was enraged. And they did what PERKASA was best at- they protested to not allow the HINDRAF leader back in Malaysia.
“We will ask the government to deny the Hindraf chairman entry into the country and to close down the FreeMalaysiaToday website as it is a threat to national security.” JB UMNO Youth leader, Khalid said.
I told you my country is interesting.
Mr Chua and Mr Najib- words can mean a lot of things
Lastly, before I steal away and perhaps face a number of criticism on how pessimistic and cynical I am to my government, let me pick a sword fight with my same-surname-no-blood-relation friend.
Mr Chua Soi Lek of MCA party, you are a very clever man. A month ago or so he proposed to remove the 30 percent equity target for Malays and Bumiputras and PERKASA sued him. Today, he boldy proclaimed to remove the 30 equity target for the Bumiputras.
Did you hear the man right? He said Bumiputras and not Malays. Maybe it was a printing error, who knows.
If you allow me share with you my politically wrong opinion that is completely untrue, I think he has a political agenda when he deliberately failed to mention the Malays.
Alas, no blog post on politicians of Malaysia can end without addressing the most important man in Malaysia.
Najib said today, that the people need to understand the context of the racist remarks before labeling them as racist. Damn right you are Najib.
“In those days pun ada orang (there were people) who made such remarks but sometimes you must understand the cultural settings. I am not defending it,” said Najib.
Was he talking about the racist principals and BTN instructor? What was their context? Did they read the wrong history book?
Or are they under the impression that Tun Abdul Razak went solo when he claimed independence from the British? And the rest of us were graciously granted an extended stay by the dominant race? Is that the context Najib is talking about?
Maybe the people who made that version of history deserves to be put under police interrogation.
So all in all, I draw no conclusion and I hope you take all these in good humor. Goodnight.
